AI Applications Engineer (Full-Stack and Generative AI)

Architect, develop and deploy production-grade full-stack applications with AI-enabled capabilities for enterprise consulting engagements. Integrate machine-learning inference and large-language-model services with application security, user experiences, retrieval systems, operational metrics and controlled deployment pipelines. Full-stack software development is the predominant duty of the position.

Work at various unanticipated client locations throughout the United States. Full-time, on-site presence at assigned client worksites is required. Travel to, and relocation among, client worksites may be required as assignments change. Reporting and recruitment headquarters: 3917 Broadway Blvd, Unit B, Kansas City, MO 64111. Headquarters is not the primary worksite. No routine remote-work arrangement is offered.

• AI-enabled backend engineering (about 30% of time): develop Python backend services and APIs for production application workflows; integrate approved model inference endpoints; implement prompt context assembly, structured outputs, error handling, retrieval and tool orchestration and business-rule validation; instrument latency, cost and reliability outcomes.
• Frontend and enterprise application development (about 25%): implement maintainable TypeScript and React components and accessible application flows; connect client interfaces to authenticated backend APIs; build user interaction, job status, audit and exception-handling capabilities for AI-enabled workflows.
• Data pipelines and AI evaluation (about 20%): develop ingestion, parsing and transformation routines; create controlled search and retrieval interfaces with source provenance; implement document chunking, embeddings and vector search where project requirements call for them; design evaluation datasets and measurable tests for answer quality, hallucination, retrieval relevance and data-handling behavior.
• Cloud delivery and observability (about 15%): package applications and deploy them through approved cloud services and CI/CD pipelines; implement secrets handling, service authorization, logging and monitoring; investigate data pipeline, inference, API and frontend production failures.
• Security, testing and technical documentation (about 10%): implement access controls and secure integrations; write unit and integration tests and AI evaluation procedures; document model and service dependencies, architectural decisions, runbooks, data flows, operational risk mitigations and release criteria.

• Master's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems or a directly related field.
• At least three (3) years of professional experience in application or software development, including backend API development, a modern web frontend or full-stack application implementation, database integration, and production software testing or deployment.

Master's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems or a directly related field.

At least three (3) years of professional experience in application or software development, including backend API development, a modern web frontend or full-stack application implementation, database integration, and production software testing or deployment.
