The platform behind a clean core

Every S/4HANA customer eventually needs something the standard system does not do: a supplier portal, an approval app, a pricing rule, a data model that combines SAP and non-SAP data. For twenty years the answer was to modify the ERP. SAP BTP lets you build those things next to the ERP instead, using released APIs and events, so the core stays upgradeable.

BTP is not one product. It is a set of runtimes, services and tools: Cloud Foundry, Kyma and the ABAP environment for running code, SAP Build for low-code apps and process automation, Integration Suite for connecting systems, SAP HANA Cloud and Datasphere for data, and AI services including Joule. In 2026 SAP brought BTP, Business Data Cloud and Business AI together as the SAP Business AI Platform. Picking the right service for each job, and wiring them together securely, is most of the architectural work.

BTP questions

We have BTP credits from RISE but no plan. Where do we start?

With two or three use cases the business is already asking for. A credit balance with no backlog tends to expire unused. We help you pick use cases that pay back quickly and set the platform up properly while building them.

Can we try BTP before committing?

Yes. Many BTP services have free tiers or trial accounts that are good enough for a proof of concept. We often start there.

Do we need BTP if we stay on S/4HANA on-premise?

You do not have to use it, but it is SAP's strategic place for new extensions, integration and AI, and several new capabilities only arrive there. Most on-premise customers end up using at least Integration Suite and identity services.
