SAP Integrated Business Planning (IBP)

Planning decides how much you make, buy, hold and promise. We implement SAP IBP and help companies still on APO move to it before support for APO runs out.

From APO to IBP

SAP APO, part of SAP SCM 7.0, follows the Business Suite 7 timeline: mainstream maintenance ends in 2027, with extended maintenance to 2030. Its successor for tactical and strategic planning is SAP IBP, a cloud application with a common data model and Excel-based and web planning views. Detailed production scheduling moves to PP/DS embedded in S/4HANA, and order promising to advanced ATP.

Planning projects are rarely limited by the software. They are limited by forecast history, master data quality and whether sales, operations and finance agree to plan from one set of numbers. We spend time on all three.

IBP areas we implement

Sales and operations planning
A monthly S&OP cycle across demand, supply and finance, with scenario comparison and the executive review that closes it.
Demand planning
Statistical forecasting, forecast error analysis, consensus demand and demand sensing for short-term signals.
Supply planning
Heuristics and optimisation across plants and distribution centres, constrained by capacity, lead times and sourcing rules.
Inventory optimisation
Multi-stage safety stock targets that balance service levels against working capital.
Response and supply
Order-based planning, allocation and supply constrained re-planning when disruptions hit.
Control tower and integration
Supply chain visibility and alerts, and the integration with S/4HANA or ECC through Cloud Integration for Data Services or real-time integration.
